The Captain did not sell their crew to the Druuge. The Spathi are still under their self-imposed slave shield, aside from a few dissidents whose claustrophobia overrides their other phobias. The Ilwrath and Thraddash did NOT kill each other in mutual destruction these two hostile races are still kicking around, disrupting the quadrant's stability. The Shofixti were revived, and the Yehat civil war ended their queen's rule. The war ended before the Kohr-Ah defeated the Kzer-Za and started their march on the galaxy. ![]() Since Star Control II has so many possible variables that lead to the end, here are some of the events that I think would be good to have as a baseline for setting up the galaxy (it may be too late at this point, but they're my thoughts anyway!): I am very intrigued by the idea of the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za struggling to find a place for themselves in a galaxy where they are no longer the dominant power, and the Kohr-Ah steadfastly refusing to stop their xenocidal war no matter the cost. I did a quick perusal of the "Where are they now?" thread on the subreddit, and I do like the idea of the Chmmr suffering some sort of delayed ill effects from The Process being interrupted before it was completed fully. So, Ur-Quan Masters fans.what are YOU looking for in the sequel? What do you want to see? What questions do you want answered, and what are your must-haves for a true Paul & Fred-flavored Ur-Quan Masters sequel? It's the fulfillment of a life-long dream, and I'm having an awesome time-and I want to share that with you guys, you fellow Ars folks who also grew up playing these games. I've written probably 15k words of content for UQM2 so far (not all of which will make it into the final game, obvs!), and I've got a weekly call with Paul & Fred (though it ends up being 95% Paul) to talk about the game's plotting and progress. I don't plan on piping up anywhere else-and ethically, I also can't write about any of this for the Ars front page (and yes, Ken is aware of my involvement in the project)-but I know the Ars community is filled with vocal old-skool Star Control 2/Ur-Quan Masters fans who will have complex decades-old thoughts about what they want to see in the sequel. ![]() Paul & Fred have made a few posts over on the uqm2 subreddit to ask old-school Star Control/UQM fans about what they might want to see in a sequel, and if you guys have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them. In the interests of full disclosure, I am working as a volunteer, with full mention in the credits but no compensation. One thing led to another, and although I haven't said this anywhere else, I'll say it here: I'm now officially involved with the Ur-Quan Masters II project (formerly "Ghosts of the Precursors," but as of the lawsuit settlement, not yet formally named) as a writer. In the process of writing about the Stardock/Fred/Paul lawsuits on the Ars front page ( here, here, and several other pieces that are google-able), I spent a lot of time talking on and off record with Fred & Paul about the Ur-Quan Masters universe, and the territory they might explore with the sequels.
